why self-timer portraits could rock,

what the heck is cat doing?
well, i set the camera ontop of kim's mule for us to do our self-timer portrait, pressed the button, ran as fast as i could to the fence but once i sat on my lovely rear end-smoothness was shot out of the window, randomness came in and
aahhh!
she falls!
heheheh. there are few pictures which qualifies the same kind of bloopers, one was in a series of where two dogs started playing with each other which sent jahren flying backwards into the blackberry bushes.
boy, he wasnt happy about that.
another is of us trying to jump together before we bid kim and the farm adieu, but first, allow me to elaborate. as some of you guys know, i have always said i have a very good relationship with my camera. sometimes, as a relationship would normally be, we aren't on the same wavelength...
example:

told everyone to follow me when its time to jump. apparently, mally was the only one who timed it right (go figure, we do those self timer ones alot). if you look below lis, you will see aengus and it clicks with lis. as we were counting down to our jump, lis kept saying.
guys, i cant jump. aengus wont move. guys, i cant jump or i will land on aengus, guys?
here i am, unaware of lis' dilemma and im saying quite too late. okay guys get readdddd *click!*
drats. have i lost the touch with my dear camera?
jahren landed on his knees, and once again, he wasnt happy about it. after soothing his knees, we all got back on the trailer to do it again and i was about to walk over to my camera to press the button. at the same time, aengus started charging after something into the woods and kim screamed out the dreaded one word
RUN!
run? why run? (lis)
huh? (kortney)
wyns havent heard the scream but they read our body language
dont ask! RUN! (kim)
i seriously thought a wolf or a coyote was charging after us. maybe it was that grey fox riddled with rabies i read about in an article. we waved at mally and jahren to run and i ran over to the fence, moved backwards to close the gate as fast as i could. before i could completely close the gate, i paused midway and told everyone to hurry up, GET BEHIND THE FENCE!!!! so i could close it. (if you guys see the gate, you'd laugh. not much protection. why bother with it... just run. period.)
i eyed the woods warily and by the time everyone was behind the gate, kim explained as she ran towards us that they were bees.
bees?
not wolves? not rabid grey foxes? what the ?! can this metal gate protect us from a swarm of angry bees aengus disturbed?
not a whole lot.
we all ran more further into the barn and whew. no one was stung but poor aengus, he got screwed. although, he did get a lot of kisses to his wounds.
ah, self timer portraits, phft, they do not take a lot of work. all it takes is to set the scene, press the button and ta dah! everyone's happy.
hah! only if it turns out right :) its too bad, if we all nailed that jumping scene, it would have rocked. then again, cant complain. the story behind it couldnt have been better.
well, off the point into something more current before i dash off.
mally and jahren will be flying back with ma and pa this sunday and originally i was going to stay in north end, maybe new york or even maybe d.c. for a day or two but holy schinkes! amtrak was booked all the way until august 21st. 9 extra days on the east end?? hmmm.....
since i am seriously considering going to gallaudet for next year's summer (gallaudet provides the best program for my major) d.c. should be a place for me to go and experience.
this was a pleasant surprise.
so, there is some good about the gas prices going up, besides somewhat saving the air with less driving, it has bought me more time for my vacation. i sure am not ready to go back to the roles of miss cat cassidy in the bay area...nope.
on the 12th i will be fung wah'ing it to the city then catching the chinatown express bus into d.c.
something tells me this is going to be an interesting loop before westward calls me back.
maybe by then, i'll be ready.

haha,I laughed with tears on ur falling picture and the feeble jump one- Lis' expression is CLASSIC!
I miss you but totally unds why you want to stay in the East coast :) and it's funny if you end up going to Gallaudet- remember our spat on the phone (tty) when I was on my spring break from Gally? LOL.

Clare
haha.. i cant rememeber our conversation but i pretty much can guess what it was about. phft, like the previous blog to mally... life works that way. its funny. i sat on the steps next to keri's mercato market and thought about how one could say such things that would come back and bite you in the ass.
how can i teach mally and jahren this? i cant. its something you, as a parent, gotta stand by and let them realise this in their own experiences (notice the plural?)
yeah, hope i really go. i really want to. it feels right.
love you clare
miss you too
laughing at the first picture! :-) Great posts... enjoyed reading them all. Hugs!
